July Health Forecast 2022: Light-filled Awareness & Strength for a Happier You!

Are you overwhelmed by the sunlight or you just can’t get enough of it?

As the sun brings its bright rays into the summer growth of the plants, flowers, trees, and children. We find ourselves with all this extra exterior light to work in our gardens and yards, play at the park, go swimming and visit our closest river, lake, sea, or ocean. Plus, summer is the time of year to socialize outdoors with family and friends. Many festivals especially in France are back in swing and we tend to stay up later and get up at the same time as we do the rest of the year.

This can lead to tiredness and lethargy especially if we are prone to being sensitive to the light, and over-receptive to the effects of light. Many individuals especially people who are fair-skinned, and easily sunburned can find themselves affected by the heat and light.

Thus the light can be overly expansive causing insomnia, deep fears, and disturbing dreams. If you are not anchoring the light within yourself and circulating it through your body, you can find yourself not grounded in your physical body and not being present for others.

Then the other side of light is where you are being deprived of light which is called Seasonal Affective Disorder.

In both cases, the light within is not being anchored and it is not circulating back into the earth. I know you have heard that you are a light being well you are. You need sunlight to live on this earth and know how to consciously be filled with light and not see it as just something that is external.

So let’s look at how you can balance the light and bring strength within you by using natural health modalities to overcome lethargy, tiredness, bad moods, and deep fears during July.

Aromatherapy, Flower Essences, and Traditional Chinese Meridians!

The first modality I would like to share with you is aromatherapy and the wonderful essential oil Eucalyptus globulus. It is high in the chemical constituent 1.8 cineole which is an oxide and helps to bring balance to the temperature of the body. If you are hot it cools you down and if you are cold it warms you up. In my book, Common Scents, A Practical Guide to Aromatherapy on page 76, I write about how it helps when you are no longer in balance with the world around you. Thus the perfect essential oil to balance the light within yourself during the summer months. It can be used in compresses, massages, sprays, and in a diffuser.

The other beautiful oil that t I would like to share with you is St. John’s Wort macerated oil which is a vibrant red color macerated from the yellow flowers into olive oil. This red oil soothes nerves. Being tired in the summer can cause nervous tension. St. John’s Wort oil massaged along your spine can help you let go of stress, tension, pressure, and nerve pain.

Then we have the flower essence of St. John’s wort. According to Kaminski et al. (2004), in the Flower Essence Repertory.

Patterns of imbalance: Overly expanded state leading to psychic and physical vulnerability; deep fears, disturbing dreams

Positive qualities: Illumined consciousness, light-filled awareness, and strength

4 drops under the tongue 4 times daily for 28 days is a good way to use this flower essence.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the fire element is connected to the season of summer. The corresponding meridians are the heart, small intestine, triple warmer, and pericardium.

Today, we will just talk about the Triple Warmer because it is not a single self-contained organ, but rather a functional energy system involved in regulating the activities of other organs.  It is composed of three parts, known as ‘burners’, each associated with one of the body’s three main cavities: thorax, abdomen, and pelvis.  An ancient Chinese medical text states: “The Upper Burner controls intake, the Middle Burner controls transformation, the Lower Burner controls elimination.” It is also known to help with the fight, flight, and freeze response.

Here is a formulation to do along with the Triple Warmer exercise that can help calm you and balance the light within you:

10 drops of Eucalyptus globulus

1oz. (30ml.) St. John’s Wort oil

4 drops of St. John’s flower essence

1oz. (30ml.) roll-on bottle

Place ingredients in the roll-on bottle. Roll the bottle between your hands to mix thoroughly. Roll the mixture on both temples along the back of your ears down the mastoid to the shoulders to the heart area.

Contraindications: Do not use in pregnancy, lactating, on or near the faces of children ten years and younger. Do not use with children under 2 years of age. Do not use with asthmatics

Then do this Triple Warmer exercise from Donna Eden, author of Energy medicine three times:

  1. Place your fingers at your temples. Hold for one deep breath, breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth;
  2. On another deep breath, slowly slide your fingers up and around your ears, smoothing the skin while maintaining some pressure;
  3. On the out-breath, slide your fingers down and behind your neck and hang them on your shoulders;
  4. Push your fingers into your shoulders, and when you are ready, drag them over the top of your shoulders and smooth them to the middle of your chest over your heart.

Can’t wait to share more with you on Tuesday, July 5th at our live workshop, Balancing the Fire and the Triple Warmer and Pericardium with Essential Oils and Chinese Herbs.
