After the harvest in June with Joel, I always keep some Lavender to dry in which I make different things with the dried lavender. One of the things that I like to do with it is make Lavender Sachets. Dried Lavender in France has been used in sachets ( sac originating from Old French) for centuries to scent drawers and closets. It makes your clothes smell fresh and clean. The genus of Lavender is Lavandula which comes from the French word Lavere meaning clean.
It also repels insects such as moths and keeps the woolens from having moth holes. This is truly a daily essential. I don’t like it when I arrive to wear my wool jacket and find their are moth holes in it and I can no longer wear it. The one important thing you have to remember is to freshen up your sachets every 3 or 4 months with Lavender essential oil. This is why I make mine with ribbon ties. Here goes my recipe for Lavender Sachets:
Items that you will need for one sachet:
Ribbon- color of your choice
Fine Tulle netting that you cut in a circle
Scissors
Glass Bowl
Spoon
2 Tablespoons of dried lavender flowers that you have taken from the stems
20 drops Lavender oil
